Get Into the Groove With Zumba Gold®

Description:

Love great music? Like to groove?

THIS IS NOT YOUR GRANNY’S DANCE CLASS! We offer all the great music of a traditional Zumba class with a twist - it's low impact and uses a chair (sometimes we sit in it and work, and sometimes use it for balance). Come join us as we break the mold and a sweat as we focus on flexibility, fitness and fun. You'll work up a sweat and a smile while having a blast! SIT DOWN, BUT DON'T RELAX... We'll be dancing our cares away!

Zumba Gold® takes the Zumba experience and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant, as well as those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. What stays the same are all the elements the Zumba Fitness-Party is known for: the zesty Latin music, like salsa, merengue, cumbia and reggaeton; the exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves; and the invigorating, party-like atmosphere. Join us for a dance-fitness class that feels friendly, and most of all, fun.

Zumba Gold® was designed by Josie Gardiner and Joy Prouty. Josie, a cancer survivor, has harnessed her experience to help develop customized programs for breast cancer survivors. Her ultimate goal is to create complete programs for all types of cancer and rehabilitation purposes.

Leader: Lori Preiss and Staci Grove

Credentials:Lori Preiss became a licensed Zumba® instructor in July 2010 and has been teaching Zumba® Fitness since October 2010. Lori is currently licensed to teach Zumba®, Zumba Gold® and Zumbatomic™. Lori has gotten so much joy from Zumba® Fitness and strives to give that to her class participants!

Staci Grove became a licensed ZUMBA® instructor in June 2010 and is currently licensed to teach Zumba Gold®, Zumba® and Zumba Toning®. While not a stereotypical fitness instructor, Staci has enjoyed teaching populations with special needs such as seniors, cancer survivors and people recovering from joint injury or replacement.

Together, Staci and Lori are friends, students and teachers. Both were part of the Zumba Fitness team that offered warmups at last year's Dragonboat Races in Burlington. Together they offered a seminar on Zumba Gold® in chairs at the 2011 Vermont Breast Cancer Conference, and are looking forward to doing it again this fall!
